Interior Design Cost in Ahmedabad 2026: Complete Guide for Every Budget
Modern living room interior design in Ahmedabad with linear LED false ceiling, sage green sofa, and geometric wall panel by J Designs

Planning an interior project in Ahmedabad and trying to figure out what it will actually cost? You’re not alone. This is probably the question we get asked most often: “Give me a rough number first, then we’ll talk.”

Fair enough. Let’s talk numbers.

Why Ahmedabad Is Different from Mumbai or Delhi

Interior design pricing in Ahmedabad doesn’t follow the same logic as metros like Mumbai or Delhi. Labour rates here are lower, local vendors give better margins on materials, and most designers work with tighter, more practical project scopes. That’s not a downgrade, it actually means you get more value per rupee if you work with the right firm.

That said, costs have moved up in 2025–26. Plywood prices are higher, hardware costs have gone up, and skilled carpentry labour is less available than it was a few years ago. Anyone quoting you 2019 rates isn’t being honest.

Cost at a Glance: By Home Size

Here’s a straightforward breakup of what interior design in Ahmedabad typically costs in 2026, for a turnkey project (more on what that includes below):

Home Type Approximate Cost (Turnkey)
1BHK (450–600 sq ft) ₹6–9 lakhs
2BHK (700–1,000 sq ft) ₹11–13 lakhs
3BHK (1,100–1,400 sq ft) ₹15–18 lakhs
4BHK (1,600–2,200 sq ft) ₹17–25 lakhs

At J Designs, our 2BHK turnkey starts at ₹11–12 lakhs, 3BHK from ₹15 lakhs, and 4BHK from ₹17 lakhs onward.

These numbers assume mid-range materials and standard finishes. Costs go up if you choose imported hardware, stone countertops, or customized CNC panels. They come down if you’re selective about which rooms get the full treatment.

Per Square Foot Rates: What to Expect

Per sq ft pricing is how most Ahmedabad designers quote carpentry work. Here’s how the tiers break down:

Basic tier (₹700–1,000/sq ft carpentry). Suitable for rental apartments or short-stay homes. Standard ply, laminate finishes, basic hardware. Gets the job done without overspending.

Mid-range tier (₹1,000–1,400/sq ft carpentry). The sweet spot for most homeowners is in areas like Bopal, Satellite, or Vastrapur. Marine ply or commercial ply, good-quality laminates, soft-close hardware from brands like Hettich or Ebco.

Premium tier (₹1,400–2,000/sq ft carpentry) Calibrated ply, Italian laminates or membrane finishes, Blum hardware, under-cabinet lighting. For premium apartments in areas like Prahlad Nagar or Bodakdev.

Luxury segment (₹2,000+ /sq ft) Custom CNC work, glass inserts, designer hardware, integrated lighting systems. Projects in this range involve significant customization.

What’s Actually Included in a Turnkey Quote?

This is where people get confused and sometimes misled. “Turnkey” means different things to different designers.

When J Designs gives you a turnkey quote, here’s what it covers:

Colour work — All painting, wall texture, or primer work included. No separate painter bills after handover.

Carpentry work — All woodwork: wardrobes, TV units, storage, shoe racks, panelling. Custom-built to your room dimensions.

AC panelling — A detail most firms skip until you ask for it. We include panel work around your AC units so the space looks clean and finished.

POP work — False ceiling, cornice detailing, and any decorative POP elements are part of the package.

Electrical work — New wiring points for lights, fan positions, switches, and sockets — all planned as part of the design, not an afterthought.

What’s typically NOT included: Furniture purchases (sofa, bed, dining table), loose décor items, and civil/structural work like tile replacement or waterproofing. Those are quoted separately if needed.

Ask any designer to break their quote into these categories. If they can’t, that’s a red flag.

How to Compare Two Quotes Without Getting Fooled

You’ll probably get two or three quotes. Here’s how to actually compare them:

Check if civil work is separate. Some designers give a low quote and then add tile work, waterproofing, or wall hacking costs later. A 20% lower quote that excludes civil work is not cheaper.

Ask about ply quality. Commercial ply, marine ply, BWR-grade, calibrated ply — these are not the same. A wardrobe in basic ply will cost 25–30% less upfront but won’t last as long in Ahmedabad’s humid summers.

Confirm hardware brands. “Soft-close hardware” doesn’t mean Blum or Hettich. Cheaper soft-close fittings start failing within 2–3 years.

Ask if supervision is included. Design-only firms charge you separately for on-site supervision. Turnkey firms like J Designs have one team handling design + execution + handover.

Ask about after-sales support. Most firms disappear after handover. We offer ongoing support post-project worth factoring in when you’re looking at numbers.

Room-by-Room Cost Guide

For homeowners who want to renovate selectively rather than do a full project:

Modular Kitchen — ₹2.5 to 5 lakhs, depending on running feet, material choice, and whether you include a chimney, hob, or built-in appliances. A standard 8–10 ft L-shape kitchen in mid-range materials falls around ₹3–4 lakhs.

Master Bedroom — ₹1.2 to 3 lakhs Wardrobe, bed panel, dressing unit, false ceiling, and lighting. Costs vary significantly based on wardrobe size and finish.

Living Room — ₹1 to 2.5 lakhs TV unit, false ceiling with cove lighting, paint or texture work. CNC panel accents or stone cladding push this higher.

Bathroom — ₹60,000 to 1.5 lakhs Vanity, accessories, mirror, waterproofing if needed. For a basic refresh without tile change, you can stay closer to ₹60–80K.

1BHK, 2BHK, 3BHK, 4BHK: Detailed Cost Breakdown

1BHK in Ahmedabad (Bopal / South Bopal / Vastral area) Most 1BHKs in Ahmedabad run 450–600 sq ft. A practical, well-done interior — kitchen, bedroom, and living — falls between ₹6–9 lakhs. If you’re furnishing a compact apartment for the first time, this is achievable without cutting quality corners.

2BHK — The Most Common Project Type 2BHKs in areas like South Bopal, Thaltej, or Nikol average 750–900 sq ft. Our turnkey projects for 2BHK start at ₹11–12 lakhs. This covers both bedrooms, kitchen, living/dining area, false ceiling, all electrical and paint work.

3BHK — Where Customization Matters More At 1,100–1,400 sq ft, a 3BHK has more rooms and more decisions. Material choices make a bigger difference at this scale. Our 3BHK projects start at ₹15 lakhs — enough to do justice to every room with good-quality finishes.

4BHK — Premium Projects 4BHKs in Ahmedabad tend to be in premium localities — SG Highway, Bodakdev, Prahlad Nagar. At this size, design complexity increases significantly. Our 4BHK projects start at ₹17 lakhs and go up depending on finish level and customisation.

What Affects Your Final Cost the Most

In our experience across 500+ projects in Ahmedabad, these three factors move the number more than anything else:

1. Kitchen scope — Whether you want a full modular kitchen with quartz countertop and wall tiles or just a wardrobe refresh changes the quote significantly.

2. False ceiling complexity — A simple flat false ceiling costs far less than a multi-level tray ceiling with cove lighting. Both look good; only one costs double.

3. Material tier in carpentry — The gap between a basic laminate wardrobe and a membrane-finish wardrobe can be ₹15,000–25,000 per unit. Across 4–5 wardrobes in a 3BHK, that adds up.

A Note on “Cheap” Quotes

If someone quotes you ₹7 lakhs for a full 3BHK turnkey in Ahmedabad in 2026, ask a lot of questions before signing anything. That number is possible only with the thinnest ply, no-name hardware, and labour rates that don’t include supervision.

The cost of redoing bad work, swollen cabinets, peeling laminates, and loose hinges almost always exceeds the money saved upfront.
